Progress Monitoring
Progress monitoring is an essential component of continuous improvement in community schools. These tools offer structured frameworks for reflective practice, enabling schools to regularly evaluate impact, refine implementation strategies, and stay focused on achieving sustainable, meaningful outcomes. By consistently tracking progress, schools can better understand what’s working, identify areas that need adjustment, and celebrate strengths along the way. These tools support grantees in making data-informed decisions, ensuring that their efforts remain aligned with both short-term priorities and long-term community goals.
Ultimately, effective progress monitoring empowers schools to be adaptive, accountable, and deeply connected to the evolving needs of their students, families, and communities.
Site-Level Self Assessments
The Site Self-Assessment Tool, developed by the State Transformational Assistance Center (S-TAC) for the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP), is a companion tool to the Capacity-Building Strategies: A Developmental Rubric. The tool aligns with the California Community Schools Framework, its overarching values, and CCSPP statutory requirements, and is intended to guide reflection and action planning across each phase of community school implementation. It is intended for internal use, for your learning and improvement, but can also be used to support annual reporting efforts.
LEA Level Self Assessments
The LEA Self-Assessment Tool, developed by the State Transformational Assistance Center (S-TAC) for the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP), is a companion tool to the Capacity-Building Strategies: A Developmental Rubric. The tool aligns with the California Community Schools Framework, its Overarching Values, and CCSPP statutory requirements, and is intended to guide reflection and action planning across each phase of community school implementation. It is intended for internal use, for your learning and improvement, but can also be used to support annual reporting efforts.
Implementation Plan Template
This CCSPP Implementation Plan Template has been created by the State Transformational Assistance Center for Community Schools (S-TAC), in partnership with the California Department of Education (CDE). This template was designed to support Cohort 2 implementation applicants with the requirement of submitting an implementation plan (per site) as part of their Request For Application and to support California Community School Partnership Program (CCSPP) grantees with community school implementation more generally. It should be considered a dynamic document that is periodically updated to reflect the progress and needs of your community schools, legislative updates, and course corrections informed by your continuous improvement and school community engagement processes. The LEA is referenced throughout the template to encourage collaboration between the LEA and sites on the implementation of the CCSPP.
California Partnership for the Future of Learning Toolkit
This toolkit from the California Partnership for the Future of Learning is designed to empower a wide range of stakeholders, including students, families, educators, and community members, by providing them with the necessary resources to establish and adapt community schools. Additionally, the toolkit includes stories and solutions from communities across California that are actively involved in school transformation efforts at various levels.
Measuring What Happens in California Community Schools: A White Paper
This white paper was developed to help frame statewide deliberation about the use of multiple measures, including local measures, to capture the quality of implementation and outcomes of the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP). As outlined in the legislation, the CCSPP will be evaluated using state-mandated measures (e.g., attendance and graduation rates) yet there are many other measures that could be used to capture important processes and outcomes of local community schools (e.g., performance assessments, civic engagement measures).
